Why birds become a problem
Bird control means stopping birds from roosting, nesting and feeding on or around your building. It isn’t about harming them. It’s about making your property a place they don’t want to settle.
In Dubai’s towers, villas and commercial blocks, birds love sheltered ledges, shafts and rooftops. Once a few settle, others follow, and the mess builds up quickly.
Signs birds have moved in
- Droppings on balconies, window ledges, cars, AC units and walkways.
- Nests. Twigs, feathers and debris in corners, shafts and behind AC units.
- Noise at dawn from cooing, scratching or chirping near your windows.
- Birds roosting in the same spots every day, especially at dusk.
- Blocked drains and gutters full of feathers and nesting material.
Common nuisance birds in Dubai
Pigeons
The most common. They roost on balconies, ledges and rooftops, and leave a lot of droppings.
Sparrows and mynas
Small birds that nest in gaps, signage, vents and AC ducts, and get into restaurants and warehouses.
Residential and commercial
Homeowners deal with balconies and gardens. Businesses deal with hygiene, signage and customer complaints.
What birds do to your property
It starts with a few droppings. Left alone, it turns into damage, cleaning bills and health worries.
Droppings and disease. Dried droppings can carry bacteria and fungi linked to illnesses such as histoplasmosis, cryptococcosis, salmonellosis and psittacosis (parrot fever), mostly by breathing in the dust. They also make walkways slippery.
Nesting and mites. Nests in ducts, shafts and AC ledges block airflow and attract bird mites, which can bite people.
Blocked drains. Feathers and twigs clog gutters and drains, which causes water to back up and leak.
Property damage. Acidic droppings eat into paint, metal and stone, and birds can damage cables and insulation.
Clothes and soft items. Washing on balconies, cushions, outdoor furniture, curtains and awnings get stained and spoiled by droppings and feathers.
Valuables, cars and solar panels. Droppings mark cars, signage, glass and stonework, and reduce the output of solar panels. Paint and surfaces can need expensive restoring.
The entry points we check first
Balconies and terraces, rooftops and parapets, AC ledges and outdoor units, signage and shop fronts, open shafts and car parks. Send photos on WhatsApp and we’ll tell you what we see.
Choosing the right bird spikes
There isn’t one spike for every surface. The right material depends on how exposed the spot is and how long you need it to last. These are the three bird spike types we install.

Stainless steel bird spikes
Rust-resistant steel spikes, the most durable option. They hold up well in Dubai’s heat and sun, so they are our choice for exposed rooftops, parapets and long-term jobs.

Polycarbonate bird spikes
Tough, UV-stabilised spikes that resist impact and sun better than ordinary plastic. They can be fitted in a colour or clear finish to match the surface. A good middle option for balconies, signs and AC ledges.

Plastic bird spikes
The lightest and lowest-cost option, easy to fit on sheltered ledges, window sills and smaller jobs where heavy wear isn’t expected.
Which material should I choose?
Stainless steel costs more but lasts longest, and suits exposed rooftops and long-term jobs. Polycarbonate sits in the middle, with better strength and sun resistance than plastic at a lower cost than steel. Plastic is the cheapest, and suits sheltered spots and shorter-term jobs. We recommend one at the inspection, based on where it will be fitted and how long you need it to last.
Spike layouts for different surfaces
Whatever the material, the spikes come in different layouts. We choose the one that fits the surface, so birds can’t find a gap to land in.
Wide spikes. Multi-row strips for wide ledges, parapet walls and flat rooftops.
Narrow spikes. Single or double-row strips for window sills, thin ledges and handrails.
Flexible spikes. Bendable strips that follow pipes, round beams, columns and lamp posts.
Signs, AC units and shop fronts. Spikes fitted on top of signage, outdoor AC units and canopies, so birds stop roosting on them.
Not sure which one?
Exposed rooftop or long-term job: stainless steel. Balcony, sign or AC ledge: polycarbonate. Sheltered spot or small job: plastic. The inspection tells us which material and layout, and we explain why.

Clean-up and prevention
Proofing stops new birds. Old droppings and nests still need removing. We also offer disinfection services for the affected areas. Don’t sweep dry droppings, because the dust can carry spores. Wet the area first and wear gloves and a mask, or let us arrange the clean-up. To keep birds away, don’t leave food or water out on balconies and keep bins closed.
Yearly pest control contract (AMC)
Prefer to stop worrying about it? Our Annual Maintenance Contract plans include monthly pest control visits, quarterly reviews and a yearly pest control report, for homes, restaurants, offices and buildings across Dubai and Sharjah. For towers and commercial buildings, scheduled visits check the bird spikes, so any damage is repaired before birds get back in.

Questions people ask
Are bird spikes humane?
Yes. Bird spikes have blunt tips and work by stopping birds from landing. They do not harm the birds. They just move on to somewhere else.
Which spikes do I need?
It depends on the spot. Stainless steel spikes suit exposed rooftops and long-term jobs, polycarbonate suits balconies, signs and AC ledges, and plastic suits sheltered spots and smaller jobs. We also choose the layout, such as wide, narrow or flexible, to fit the surface. We decide at the inspection.
What is the difference between stainless steel, polycarbonate and plastic spikes?
Stainless steel lasts longest and copes best with Dubai’s heat and strong sun. Polycarbonate is tougher and more sun-resistant than ordinary plastic, at a lower cost than steel. Plastic is the lightest and cheapest, and suits sheltered spots and shorter-term jobs. We recommend one after inspecting the area.
Where can bird spikes be installed?
On ledges, parapets, window sills, signs, beams, pipes, AC units and shop fronts, any surface where birds land and roost. For an open balcony, shaft or the space under solar panels, spikes alone are not the right fix, and we tell you that at the inspection.
How long does installation take?
It depends on the size of the area and the system. After the inspection we tell you how long the job will take before we start.
How much does bird control cost?
The price depends on the system, the area and how hard it is to reach. Send us a WhatsApp message with photos and we quote before work starts.
Do you offer a yearly contract for bird spikes?
Yes. Our AMC plans include regular visits, quarterly reviews and a yearly report, so bird spikes are checked and repaired for homes and buildings in Dubai and Sharjah.
