Rats and mice in Dubai buildings

Rodents are small mammals that breed fast, chew constantly and squeeze through very small gaps. A mouse can enter through a hole the width of a pencil. They follow food, water and warmth, and Dubai’s kitchens, bin areas, false ceilings and warehouses offer plenty of all three.

Homes see them in kitchens and roofs. Restaurants and warehouses see them around stock and bins. Either way, the first sign is rarely the only rodent.

Signs you have rodents

  • Droppings. Dark pellets in drawers, behind appliances and along walls.
  • Gnaw marks on packaging, wood, pipes and cables.
  • Night noises. Scratching or running in ceilings, walls or ducts.
  • Grease marks along walls and skirting where they run.
  • Nests of shredded paper or fabric, and a stale smell in enclosed spaces.

The rodents we deal with

House mice

Small and quick. Live in kitchens, cupboards and wall voids, and breed all year round.

Black (roof) rats

Good climbers. Found in roofs, false ceilings, trees and upper floors.

Brown (Norway) rats

Heavier burrowers. Found near drains, bin areas, basements and ground floors.

Why rodents can’t be ignored

They’re more than a nuisance. They carry disease, they chew through your belongings and they multiply.

Serious diseases. Rodents can spread rat-bite fever, caused by the bacteria Streptobacillus moniliformis and Spirillum minus, through bites, scratches and food or water they have contaminated. Hantavirus can spread when people breathe in dust from dried rodent urine and droppings.

Contaminated food and surfaces. Droppings, urine and fur end up on worktops, utensils and packaged food, which is a risk for families and a failed inspection for restaurants.

Cloth and fabric damage. They shred clothes, curtains, sofas, mattresses and bedding for nesting material, and leave stains and a lasting smell.

Valuables and precious items. Rats and mice gnaw documents, books, photos, leather, wooden furniture and stored keepsakes. Items in storage rooms and wardrobes are the most at risk.

Damage to your property. They gnaw wiring, insulation, pipes and wood. Chewed cables are also a fire risk.

Fast breeding. A small group becomes a large one within a few months if nothing is done.

Where they get in

Gaps around pipes and AC ducts, door and shutter gaps, drains and floor traps, roof voids and false ceilings, bin areas, loading bays and storage rooms. Not sure where yours get in? Send photos on WhatsApp.

How we get rid of rodents

Baiting alone won’t fix it if new rodents keep walking in. We combine removal with proofing, so the problem stops and stays stopped.

Inspection

We find droppings, runs, nests and entry points, and work out which rodent it is.

Baiting stations

Tamper-resistant stations placed along rodent routes, out of reach of children and pets.

Trapping

Traps in indoor areas where bait isn’t suitable, such as kitchens and food stores.

Proofing

We seal gaps and recommend repairs to doors, vents and pipes so they can’t come back in.

Not sure which method your property needs? Send us a photo of the droppings, damage or entry point on WhatsApp and we’ll tell you what to do.

Keeping them away

If you find droppings, don’t sweep or vacuum them dry. Wear gloves and a mask, wet the area with disinfectant first, or ask us to handle it. Store food in sealed containers, keep bins closed and emptied, fix leaking pipes and clear clutter near walls. For restaurants, buildings and warehouses, a regular pest control contract keeps the stations checked. We also offer disinfection for affected areas.

Yearly pest control contract (AMC)

Prefer to stop worrying about it? Our Annual Maintenance Contract plans include monthly pest control visits, quarterly reviews and a yearly pest control report, for homes, restaurants, offices and buildings across Dubai and Sharjah. For restaurants, warehouses and buildings, regular visits keep bait stations checked and entry points sealed.

Questions people ask

Is rodent control safe for children and pets?

We use tamper-resistant bait stations placed out of reach and tell you before the visit what to move and when it is safe to return. Tell us about your pets and we plan around them.

How do I know if I have rats or mice?

Look for droppings, gnaw marks, scratching in ceilings or walls at night, greasy smear marks along walls, and shredded nesting material. Rat droppings are larger than mouse droppings.

How long does it take to get rid of rodents?

Most problems need a few visits. We treat, block entry points and recheck. We tell you what to expect after the inspection.

Why do rodents keep coming back?

Usually because an entry point was missed or food and water are still available. We find the gaps, seal them and tell you what to change.

How much does rodent control cost?

The price depends on property size, the type of rodent and how bad the problem is. Send us a WhatsApp message and we quote before work starts.

Do you offer a yearly contract for rodent control?

Yes. Our AMC plans include monthly visits, quarterly reviews and a yearly report, for homes, restaurants, warehouses and buildings in Dubai and Sharjah.
